Shannon E. Martin

Shannon E. Martin is an associate professor at the University of Maine in Orono. She earned a Ph.D. in Mass Communication at the University of North Carolina and an M.A. in Journalism at Indiana University. She was a Fulbright Senior Scholar at the University of Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and received an American Society of Newspaper Editors' Journalism Education Excellence Summer Fellowship.

She is the author of several books and journal articles concerned with FOIA issues. These include: Bits, Bytes and Big Brother: Federal Information Control In The Technological Age. (Westport, Conn.: Praeger, 1995) and, Martin with Kathy Hansen, Newspapers of Record in a Digital Age: From Hot Type to Hot Link, (Westport, Conn.: Praeger, 1998).
